The Rewirement Journey

The Rewirement Journey

re·tire·ment /rəˈtī(ə)rmənt/…

➡️ Lately, this word has come up quite a bit for me and several of my colleagues. If you do an internet search for the formal definition, what’s likely to come up (source: Oxford) is “the action or fact of leaving one’s job and ceasing to work.” Well, I’m a week into my retirement from AT&T, and some of the most common things I’ve heard from people are:

🗣You’re too young to retire.

🗣You can’t possibly be retiring.

🗣What are you going to DO in retirement?

As a good friend of mine put it, saying you’re “retired” just sounds so “tired”. 😴 I tend to agree, do you? I feel strongly that it’s time to reframe what retirement actually “is”. If you view your life’s purpose as your actual job, and you view that your life is about doing the work which brings joy and positive impact to your loved ones, others whom you care about including yourself – then – in actuality there is no such thing as retirement, is there? 🧐 So…the combo electrical engineer and marketeer in me prefers to call it “rewirement.” 💡🔌

✅ “Rewirement” seems to be a more accurate description. It’s time to rethink – renew – reframe – recharge – reposition – reprioritize – and yes, revitalize – one’s life.🔋As such, part of my #rewirement involves embarking on new endeavors that further enable me to help others realize their fullest potential, making a difference wherever I can, as well as catalyzing lasting change and transformation – whether it be with individuals, teams or organizations. I suppose I fancy myself not a retired CEO, rather The Rewired CEO. 💁🏻‍♀️ What do you think? Worthy of a logo?

Do share your thoughts on rewirement – and your opinions on the creative below. Which do you like best and why? Thank you! 🙏
